What is Bolder Writers?

Keri Shee, former Boulder Valley School District educator, founded Bolder Writers as a way to provide writing and reading opportunities for the youth of Boulder, Colorado that are connected to, yet outside, the classroom environment. Bolder Writers offers summer writing groups, tutoring, school-year writing groups, and weekend writing seminars for middle and high school students.  

Our Philosophy:

Through our experience teaching young adults, we have found that this age group often feels too much a child to be taken seriously yet too much an adult to imagine and play. Bolder Writers helps students find and express their unique voices through a wide range of fun and creative writing exercises in a variety of genres. We support the school environment by tying our writing to the Colorado state standards but take a creative approach because we feel that is essential to inspire young adults to see themselves as writers. Most of all, we want students to feel valued and interesting and write boldly.

Our Students:

Bolder Writers works with groups of and individual students in the areas of writing and reading. We are open to students of all backgrounds, skill levels, and ambitions. We focus on each student’s individual strengths and needs, set goals, and provide feedback that will help the student grow and gain confidence with writing and reading.
