Keri W. Shee

M.A. in Secondary Education/English
B.S. in Occupational Therapy; Minor in Art

Keri Shee founded Bolder Writers to create a supportive, fun space for young adults to write beyond the walls of the classroom. Keri’s educational background is rich with experience that has finally brought her exactly to the place she wants to be: surrounded by students, some eager to learn, some apprehensive, but all capable.

Keri has worked as an occupational therapist in both hospital and school settings where she equipped students with adaptive strategies to maximize their independence. After realizing some of the limitations in making a great impact in a student’s life as an OT, Keri decided to get her Master’s in secondary education. Keri was offered her dream job of teaching 6th-8th grade language arts and reading in BVSD. One of Keri’s proudest accomplishments was the day a student told her that writing, which started as his least favorite subject, turned into his favorite subject after having Mrs. Shee as a teacher.

Besides teaching, Keri is passionate about watching her toddler explore the world, hiking and snowshoeing, cooking, practicing yoga, reading young adult fiction, and writing her latest blog post or novel.

“Keri Shee possesses an engaging personality that allows her to inspire young writers to take risks and unlock their creativity through the written word.  After working with her directly in the middle school environment for several years, I’ve seen Keri’s ability to connect personally with students and guide them to write about topics with passion. [This] will undoubtedly make her creative writing class a unique summer experience for young writers.”

Amanda Cherry

M.A. in Secondary Education/English
B.A. in Journalism

Amanda Cherry teaches middle school in BVSD and is known for her creative planning, kind and supportive personality, value for the classroom as a community, and love for her students.  Amanda worked for a non-profit education-related organization for several years before getting her Master’s degree in secondary education. While she found the work to be rewarding, she really longed for day-to-day interactions with students. A passionate writer and former journalist herself, Amanda has a knack for motivating reluctant writers to put pencil to paper and give it a try. She also pushes voracious writers to move beyond the basics and take risks in their writing. Overall, Amanda is a dedicated teacher who brings a wealth of experience and passion to Bolder Writers.

“ Having worked with numerous Language Arts teachers throughout the Boulder Valley School District, Amanda’s dedication to teaching children and providing them the tools to be better writers is unsurpassed.  Her calm and supportive manner encourages students of all writing abilities to feel comfortable to both try new writing techniques and share their projects with confidence. ”
